Paint colours for post war DOTs

Cerise RED and BLACK all models up to 1956
BLACK for some Mancunians and some round frame up to 1962
RED for the Mancunians/RCA Sportsman and round frame models
RED for the square frame models
GREEN for the Mancunians and round frame models
BLUE for the Brockhouse models
Blue for late 60s Maicos etc
SILVER for the square frames from 1964 on

WHITE for the White strengths

NOTE some DOTs around 1953/54 used RAL 3002 (Signal red)

RAL3005 RAL 3002 was used but only on a few bikes
BLACK

Modern alternative is FORD Cardinal RED
Modern alternative is VAUXHALL flame red
Modern alternative is Brooklands green (HYCOTE brand)
The same colour as the Swedish flag blue
Ford Monza  blue
Ford Silver Fox

This picture shows the alternative parts used in 2 Stroke Concentric carbs.  The steel jet block is smaller and the needle jet DOESN'T have the 2 small holes in the flats

The needle for the stroke is also different.
It is shorter, 2
5/16" long and it only has 1 identifying groove at the top.

Front brake torque arm bolt, for the round frame Dots, 1956~1960.  It needs a  special washer and a Nyloc nut

Frame  wheelbase info note that the 1959 season Round Frame models, both Trials and Scrambles, had a wheelbase of 52.5" as given in the specification published w=in Motor Cycling 18/9/58 In the Dave Curtis article on the Square Frame models in the "What you get" section the wheelbases are given as 53.5" for the Trials and 54" for the Scrambler which presumably arises from the different fork angles between the Trials and Scrambles bikes.
